Meridians
Like a network of rivers nourishing a landscape, the Meridians are the channels through which chi flows, to nourish and energize the human body.
Meridians are the internal energy pathways throughout the physical body which energetically connect a person’s organs and their many subsystems. Through the meridans passes an invisible nutritive energy known as Chi. The energy enters the body through specific acupuncture points and chakras and flows to deeper organ structures, bringing life-giving nourishment of a subtle energetic nature. It is essential that the meridians remain open. Blocked meridians are demonstrated through discomfort or illness at all levels. Meridians have been measured and mapped by modern technological methods; electronically, thermatically and radioactively.

Chakras
The Sanskrit word "chakra" means literally "spinning wheel". The chakra system within the human body consists of seven major chakras and many minor chakras. To those who can see energy fields, a major chakra resembles a spinning wheel when looking directly into the chakra. However, viewed from the side, it looks more like an energy vortex somewhat resembling the shape of a tornado. This energy funnel is tight and compact near the surface of the skin, and gradually widens as it extends outside the physical body to the outer edge of the aura.
Each major chakra from the Root through Brow has four energy vortices associated with it: one spiralling upward, one downward toward the earth, one out the front of the body, and one out through the back of the body. The upward projecting vortex from one chakra and the downward projecting vortex of the chakra just above it join to form an energy column that runs vertically through the physical body from the bottom of the spine (Root Chakra) up in front of the spine and out through the top of the head (Crown Chakra). The Crown Chakra has two vortices, one opening upward toward the heavens, and one projecting downward into the energy column running through the body.
In essence, our chakras draw in the health of our surroundings, including moods of people we are in contact with which is why otherpeople's moods have an effect on us. While it is said our bodies contain hundreds of chakras, there are only seven main chakra centers, which are connected to our being on several different levels: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
When a chakra is healthy and balanced, its front and rear vortices spin in a circular motion. However, if there is a disturbance or blockage in the flow of energy within a chakra, the circular motion may become elliptical or, in extreme cases, severely flattened on its sides.
